about us

our story

In 2016, Sally and Katie were set on a path that led to a special friendship. They shared many walks and the miles led them to discover they shared a vision and dream to give the gift of health.

By grand design, their journeys led them to jump into the unknown, together.

Hello! I am so honored that you are here to soak in a little about me.

First and foremost I am a Mama! I have three, active and spirited babes. I have spent many years volunteering, hosting events for the family real estate business, getting my kids to games, keeping them fed, and thriving.

Back in 2018 our family took on a couple big mountains. February brought a devastating diagnosis for my mom of ALS, Lou Gehrig’s Disease and by August we heard four little words that packed a punch, your child has cancer. We buckled in for two fights, one that needed a miracle and held a life expectancy of 2-5 years and one that had a 97% survival rate but it would mean high doses of chemo and radiation. Within two years Connor was in remission and my mom, well my mom hung on with grace and gratitude for as long as she could. Heaven welcomed an angel on April 11th, 2020. These two life-changing events had me head down researching our bodies and the power of the mind. If I had to pin down one thing my research 100% confirmed it was and is, take care of yourself to the best of your ability!

This life has taught me that I may not be able to outrun every disease but you can bet I am doing all I can to take care of what I’ve got. I am incredibly thankful the road has ignited a fire to take a risk and share what Soak Box can give not only to me but to you!

I can’t wait to see you at the BOX!

    Be well,

    Katie

Thanks for landing here and learning more about me. I’m an Oregon native having grown up in Aloha and have called Wilsonville home for the last ten years. I graduated from Oregon State with a BS in Exercise and Sports Science and it was there that my passion for health and wellness began. My first job out of college was working as a Personal Trainer and I stayed in the health club industry for a handful of years. I began a career in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry, blending my science and sales background, in 2000 and have worked full-time in this industry ever since. For many years, however, I have longed to create an opportunity to deliver health and wellness in a different way as a small business owner. I was excited and honored when Katie came to me with her concept as it felt like a perfect fit.

Over the years wellness has evolved for me. In my 20s it was mostly about the physical aspect of fitness. How many calories I’d burn and how I appeared. In my 30s I learned exercising or working out helped me balance motherhood and professional life. The positive impact exercise had on my mental wellness became evident. In 2020 a divorce followed by guiding myself and two kids through a pandemic further broadened my definition of wellness. Wellness is not about an end-game such as pounds lost, lean body mass percentage or the number of calories burned in a workout. Wellness is a practice. Taking care of our whole body, the physical, mental and emotional. Some days it may look like a challenging workout and other days it may look like allowing yourself to be still. Instead of focusing on cardiovascular health or strength building, you may focus on resting those systems. It may be doing something to strengthen your immunity. It could be something to build mental strength and resilience. Taking care of our whole selves in this crazy world has become a bigger priority in my eyes. Helping us weather the ups and downs, the challenges and opportunities life throws at us. Whether we’re ready or not. I’m grateful for the opportunity to demonstrate to my kids how to build something you are passionate about. It has been especially fun and rewarding bringing them alongside this journey.
